I totally agree with Mark's comment. We wouldn't go back.
We were here from out of town. The waiter I'm assuming the owner was extremely rude, and acted like he didn't want to be at work. I was extremely surprised that someone in the food industry would act like that to customers.
I usually avoid steak on a taco because *typically* the pieces are cut too big at Mexican restaurants. That’s my take on a typical Mexican restaurant. Here the steak was cut just the right size and I FINALLY enjoyed a taco with genuinely great steak flavor instead of ground beef. I’m coming back; very good food and friendly folks.
A great place. The owner makes you feel like you are at his house. Mi casa e su casa. Wonderful flavors that made dinner great!
Best Mexican restaurant around no cap
Authentic Mexican food, great food, lots to choose from, friendly and clean. We'll definitely be back!
Wonder food Owner is s very nice man
Pronounced Guy-yo's. I would suggest this place to anyone looking for something delicious. Very Authentic Mexican food
I love the food here. It is always a pleasure to dine at Gallos!
Food was good quantity and fair quality . Poor ambience and kitchen area appeared unkempt and small. Service was good but not very pleasant. Over priced as well! I love Mexican food but pierre in my opinion is lacking for good affordable Mexican restaurants!
Authentic. Excellent food. Great prices. Fabulous staff.
Authentic Mexican food that will not disappoint.
From Mexico, Antonio brought with him authentic Mexican that is always made fresh from scratch. The quaint ristorant will take you back to a simpler time in life. Antonio's desire to take your taste buds to Mexico come through. Pasar bien.
Good food!
An absolute gem. The owner is amazing. All of the sauces are fantastic. An absolute must stop in pierre.
I just got done eating here and I can first hand tell you that their food is 1000 times better than the Guadalajara near my hotel. Antonio made me feel welcome even though I came in at the last hour before closing. If I have time I will eat here again because it reminds me of back home.
Decent food. Long wait. Need more staff for lunch.
Very good food. Wonderful service by Antonio 👍👍👍
For a restaurant so say they have good food and they show it. This is not that restaurant. I will say I'm very disappointed in this place. My little brother and I ate here maybe a month ago, I'm not going back.I ordered the shrimp fajitas, little brother ordered nachos. His nachos were great. Mine not to much, the shrimp was warm to the point of cold, my peppers were under cooked and the over all dish had no flavor, salt and pepper never killed anyone. Oh did I mention that everything came out in under 5 minutes. That's scary! In the end we ordered a fried icecream. Maybe I'm not used to the way they do it here but it was fried than frozen, came out also in under 5 minutes.Having to lie on my way out the door while I had a sick stomach was not fun, I dont like to be rude. I have sat on this for a month, mad that I had to lie, mad that I got sick, and mad the food was made poorly
I grew up on Mexican food. So I consider myself knowledgeable. I ordered cheese enchiladas with red sauce. Establishment claims authenticity...the "red" sauce was spaghetti sauce and actually had what appeared to be parmesan cheese on top, the salsa looked like bean juice, brown and watery...we ordered 2 tecate, the waiter opened and brought to the table a different kind of beer and stated they were out of imports and domestic beer...I understand some people do not know Mexican cuisine so do not falsely claim or advertise a lie...invest in some cooking lessons or pull up on YouTube a few videos...Way too overpriced! Bless their hearts
Amazing food and customer service even though it was only one person working. Best Mexican food I've found in South Dakota. Definitely coming back as soon as I can. If you're looking for that authentic hole in the wall Mexican place this is perfect.
Best authentic Mexican food I've ever had. They take such pride in the quality of their food. Many of it is made when you order it from Scratch not ahead of time. Like the corn tortillas and guacamole. Yumm, the owner served us and was was excellent. I had the shrimp tacos and my husband had beef fajitas. The meat is marinated for hours or overnight and was tender and flavorful as well as the peppers and onions were cooked perfectly not over cooked or under cooked. The guacamole was made fresh after I ordered it. Amazing quality and pride in their food and it shows.
Awesome customer service and amazing food
Wonderful food and great service
The most authentic and delicious Mexican food I've ever had. I can say that honestly after eating at many other Mexican restaurants. Antonio the owner is very friendly and professional
This place was amazing. Been on the road through the Midwest for a few weeks on business and easily thought this was the best food I have eaten. I feel their whiteboard says all you need to know.
Best Mexican food in South Dakota. Antonio has earned Gallos this title and has been recognized for it. Good portions and good prices with real home-made flavor
Great food and our food was ready pretty quickly.
I absolutely love this place. I wish I had the funds to visit more often.
Rude, rude and rude. Spent $25 on a single plate and beverage only to be rushed out of the place because the owner was tired from his day. It was the strangest experience to encounter this rude man. Whining about his day, asking for the money less than halfway through our dinner. We were kicked out without even finishing our meal. Bathroom stunk and had two electric heaters in middle of floor with cords laying open ready to be tripped on. It's summertime? His rudeness will be remembered, not the food. What a legacy.
I have to say, this is the best Mexican food I have had since I moved from Denver 11 years ago. The seafood burrito was phenomenal, the ceviche was amazing, and the steak and shrimp was fiery but delicious! They have perfectly cooked octopus...heck, they had perfectly cooked EVERYTHING!!The restaurant itself was very clean, service was great, and it was an overall wonderful experience. Thanks for making the last day of our vacation amazing!
Reheated food Menudos were very poor along with the sour cocktail with black avocado pieces with 6 shrimps my total was ridiculous!!!!
Service has been GREAT each time I eat there. The staff is very friendly and alert, place is very clean and home-like, food is delicious. My most favorite restaurant in Pierre!
Best food in the state. I definitely recommend you eat there at least once. You will go back
Our first time eating here Verde sauce is awesome number 7 shrimp chimichanga with green sauce was really really good and wife had enchiladas with red sauce which she said we will be eating there again. The pictures wife's enchiladas mine didn't make it to get a picture LOL
Great food with great service!
payed 14 dollars and left the buffet hungry what fun
This place is delicious! Mexican food that's not greasy and doesn't make you feel gross after eating it. Love this place and its quick too. We go there for lunch and we are in and out in 30-45 minutes. Very very good!
Delicious, flavorful Mexican food. It was the right amount of spicy for me, and there are options and ways to make things more or less spicy, depending on your preference. Large portions of great food.
Best, most authentic Mexican food I've ever had. Boted best in the state recently, and very deserving of the title. Antonio's food is always delicious! Salsa you want to drink, and sauces specific to every dish.
Amazing food, puts you smack dab in the middle of mexico, authentic authentic!!!!!
Very good service and true authentic Mexican food very tasty
Food was really good! The salsa is really tasty! Chips rock! My fajitas were great!
Great food, great service...
First time here, am from out of town. Food was very authentic, and I loved 3 different choices of salsa - watch out for the hottest one!!! Very good, had chicken tacos...no fat on mine. Owner was very nice and attentive. Seemed a little bit pricey for lunch, but loved the food and will bring my husband the next time we are in Pierre. Someone else recently complained about the decor..seriously?? I agree, the restaurant is not the fanciest, but I come for food, not the decor. This one is worth a stop!
So Fresh and good! Not the same mex you get everywhere else.
This is for a visit back in August. Very delicious and authentic. Really liked the mole sauce. I'm docking two stars though because the owner wasn't too friendly to us. I feel like when you own a restaurant you should be a little more welcoming to patrons.
70 dollars for some of the absolute worst mexican food I've ever had. The horchata tasted rotten, the chicken on the tacos was dry, and the rice was bland. Do not go here.
I was skeptical coming here. We are from the West coast where we were surrounded by Mexican culture. We have eaten at probably hundreds of different restaurants and taco trucks..... But I must say that I am very impressed and I was very satisfied with my meal. It was rich in flavor and tasted fresh. I am now going to be a regular customer. Not to mention, the restaurant is decorated perfectly and gives us the feeling of being back home.
The horchata was great, good sauces and salsa. Food was very fresh, the shrimp well cleaned. Service was exceptional, the type of place where the owner is willing to talk about their food and history. The service, authentic food, and great service well deserve the 5 stars
